Without sin
all would have lived happily and there would be no need for repentance and
forgiveness. The Bible says that all of us are sinners and hence we need
repentance, repentance comes before forgiveness and forgiveness is necessary
for salvation. As human beings we are weak and susceptible to evil of all
kinds, especially in the form of hurting our own sisters and brothers of the
human family.
We must
remember that in our dealings with our fellow human beings we are bound to step
on each other’s toes, rub shoulders, hurt others, get hurt and so on. The vital
thing to remember is that we do not let the sun set on our anger, hurt
feelings, unforgiveness or the like. After a tiff or a verbal tussle, it is
good to give time, both to yourself and the other to calm down. Later find a
good time take the first step to reconcile, speak from your heart and make sure
you don’t delay the process by procrastinating.
It is better
to forgive and forget than not to forgive and become bitter and bitter day by
day. A light chest with a forgiving heart is better than a body burdened with
baggages of the past. Forgiveness and repentance are two sides of the same
coin. Forgiving the faults of others and being forgiven is important to bring
the relationship back to normalcy so that there is a smooth running of the
family, society and the world at large.
We must not
only be ready to be forgiven by others but also forgive others when they do us
wrong. Jesus tells that we have to forgive not 7 times but 70 times 7, which
only goes to show that we have to keep forgiving others as many times as they
fail because God Himself never tires of forgiving us. Another essential element
of forgiveness is to forget what the other has done to us or vice versa, just
as God does.
A note of
caution on unforgiveness, this will surely lead you to a hospital because
everything in the body is inter-connected. The root problem of many a sickness
and disease is found out to be unforgiveness. Remember that unforgiveness is
like a garbage sack or an unnecessary burden that you carry. The simple and the
best thing to do is to give them all to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of
forgiveness, for He also used the Cross as an opportunity to forgive those who
crucified Him.
Let us
choose Jesus, let us choose forgiveness and peace.
Give and it
will be given to you.
Forgive and
you will be forgiven.
