Etiquette
In
today’s context it is known as the art of getting along people. It also means
good manners, courtesy, politeness, good ways of dealing with people,
consideration for others.
We
immediately recognize a good breed. A well trained dog. A well brought up
child. It is most essential for getting along people.
It
is not inherited (like genes). Etiquette is learnt. It is a method of trimming
or smoothening the rough edges. It is not what he says that hurts me but the
way he says it to me.
It
is not a pursuit of good looks. It is the building up of ones image. It is the
heart of all rules.
St.
Augustine says ,”Love and do whatever you want.” Hence our actions must respect
the individuality and human dignity of others.
